The two versions of Easykit are designed to support practitioners to undertake competent CAF or APIR assessments and carry out follow-up work effectively.
Both versions are suitable for use by practitioners from the range of agencies that work with young people aged 11 – 19, including Youth Services, Connexions Services, Social Services, Voluntary and Community Organisations. The toolkits can also be used by Pastoral Support staff within schools and colleges.
- Easykit 4 CAF is the newest addition to the Easykit family and is a smart, interactive system which helps the practitioner to engage a young person in their own CAF assessment.
- Easykit Original was created for Connexions practitioners. Based around the 18 APIR factors, it too is designed to empower a young person to have a say in his/her own assessment.
Easykit’s step-by-step approach and its comprehensive set of materials supports the practitioner to undertake effective assessments and follow up work:
- Can be used for individual and group assessment
- Incorporates a tried and tested card-based assessment tool
- A comprehensive set of Prompt Sheets helps identify needs and strengths and aid the exploration of issues with young people
- Designed to effectively and concisely record the work undertaken by the young person and practitioner
- Adaptable:
- For new practitioners, Easykit’s step-by-step approach builds confidence
- More experienced practitioners can be creative in the ways they use Easykit
- Can be used in a wide range of settings including schools, colleges, youth and community centres and other outreach locations
- Helps identify when a young person requires specialist support
Use of Easykit will help practitioners to engage young people and empower them to contribute to, and take ownership of, their own assessment and follow-up work:
- All materials written in simple English
- Bright, colourful and tactile
- Encourages young people to express their opinions, take an active part in assessing their own needs and work towards their goals
- Breaks down communication barriers between the practitioner and young person
- Allows the young person to see evidence of the progress they have made
- Tools to help practitioners translate CAF/APIR theory into effective practice
- Ideal for developing multi-agency working, as the Easykit system provides consistency of practice across individual organisations and within multi-agency environments (for example, pastoral support teams in school/colleges)
- Offers a method of demonstrating the impact of ‘soft’ work by providing quantative measurement of the progress (or ‘distance travelled’) by a young person or group of young people over a period of time
- Ensures that practitioners record their work effectively (important for JAR inspections etc)
- Easykit 4 CAF supports effective implementation of the CAF across the range of young people’s services
